Purpose:
As an HR/Payroll Apprentice, you will be responsible for providing support to the Human Resources and Payroll department within the business. This entry-level position offers hands-on experience in various HR and payroll functions, providing a foundation for career growth in the field.
Key Responsibilities/Main Duties:
1. HR Support
Assist with the recruitment and onboarding process
Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in the HRIS (Human Resource Information System)
Become a super user of the HRIS and increasing employee engagement with the system
Support employee relation activities, including organising events and supporting in employee engagement
Assist in conducting new employee inductions and facilitating HR related training sessions
2. Payroll Assistance
Aid in the preparation and processing of payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant laws and policies
Assist in verifying timekeeping records and resolving discrepancies
Support with the administration of employee benefits
3. Compliance & Documentation
Assist in maintaining compliance with ISO
Prepare and maintain HR related documentation such as employment contracts and personnel files
Support audits by providing necessary documentation and information
Ensure all policies, procedures and templates are available on SharePoint
4. Communication
Respond to employee queries related to HR and payroll matters in a timely and professional manner
Assist in the development and distribution of internal communication related to HR policies and procedures.
5. Data Analysis
Compile and analyse HR and payroll data to generate reports for management and the Group HR Director
Assist in identifying trends and areas for improvement in the HR and payroll processes
6. Professional Development
Actively participate in training programmes to enhance knowledge of HR and payroll best practises.
Keep up to date with any changes in relevant employment law / regulations
Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
- Have strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Able to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Eagerness to learn and grow in the HR and payroll field
Qualifications & Education:
GCSE’s in Maths and English is a minimum requirement
Other:
Desire to embark on the CIPD and/or CIPP professional qualification
