200 Years of Transport Textiles: London Hire, 2017
As we approach our two hundred year anniversary in transport textiles, we're taking a look back at some of the most unique, exciting and innovative fabrics created by Camira throughout the decades. With each project submitted by members of our global transport team, we'll be featuring textiles from across the world - from England to Australia, America to Poland, these fabrics are both memorable and moving.
The first in our series is a fun-filled, heart-patterned moquette developed for London Hire - a nationwide provider of accessible vehicles and transport solutions. Nominated by Nigel Vickers, Area Business Manager, UK Bus & Coach, and now featured across all London Hire vehicles, this bespoke fabric has remained a firm favourite with both the customer and Camira since its creation in 2017.

Whilst the bespoke fabric perfectly reflects the London Hire brand and heart logo, the design brief was much more succinct than might be expected - Sarah Mallinson, Transport Designer at Camira, created the custom pattern using just the company's business card as her inspiration. Translating the grey background into the fabric's base colour, and developing a repeat pattern with the heart logo in various sizes and tones, the end result is both visually impactful and stylishly on brand.
A bespoke plush moquette is perfectly paired with Vita, a luxurious vinyl.
To ensure the customer is provided with the flexibility and fast delivery they need, the fabrics featured across London Hire vehicles are stock backed by Camira. As Nigel surmises, "This service level is the perfect complement to the beautiful fabric created by the Camira team - it guarantees that the customer can have the textiles they need, when they need them; and, in the fast-moving world of transport, that is so important to a successful project."
