Our story
Our story
Our modern day origins began in 1974 when we were founded under the name Camborne Fabrics in the UK’s textile heartland in Huddersfield in the UK. Our reputation was built on quality fabrics with great service for the commercial interiors industry. Over the years we’ve acquired new companies and new capabilities, meaning our experience stretches as far back as 1783. So we’re a young company with a rich heritage.

Our story
Camborne was acquired by US carpet tile company Interface, Inc. and the following year we re-branded to Interface Fabrics. We spent nearly 10 years as part of Interface, deepening our environmental focus, lightening our environmental footprint and innovating in new categories of environmental fabrics. We also acquired technical knitting expertise and diversified into fabrics for mass passenger transport.

Interface and Camborne merge to create Camira
Our story
A new chapter began when Interface Fabrics became Camira following a management buy-out. There’s a whole story behind the name Camira, which includes a nod to the past, a view to the future, a dash of Latin thrown into the mix, and even a wind of change! We opened a new manufacturing plant in Lithuania, to complement our UK manufacturing and logistics facilities, and we acquired transportation fabric specialist John Holdsworth & Co.

Our story
We never stand still. We’re explorers and pioneers, interpreting trends and tides, understanding color and pattern, designing and manufacturing textiles which fit a moment in time and stand the test of time. Our expertise goes from farm to fabric and we handle everything in between. We’re global yet local with a team of over 800 professionals, all dedicated to making Camira the natural choice for fabric solutions worldwide.
